Whisky

Until 1999, it was forbidden in Switzerland to distil spirits from basic foodstuffs such as grain and potatoes. When this ban on whisky was lifted, many Swiss distilleries produced their first whisky.

So did the Schwab distillery. When they offered us the chance to produce our own Tram Whisky, we jumped at the chance. The first Tram Whisky was distilled in 2004 and stored in oak barrels for four years.

Since then, we have developed and refined our whisky. In the meantime, it matures up to seven years in an old monastery cellar and does not have to fear comparison.

Nun's Whisky Sister Abigail

Barrel Aged for 5 years
Whisky bottle and banderole
Nun's Whisky Sister Abigail is a single malt whisky distilled in November 2017. The amber whisky was aged in two different casks, a red wine cask and a sweet wine cask. Both came from Swiss wine producers and were carefully selected.

Stored where the nuns once bathed, the whisky developed its fine aroma diversity for five years in the monastery cellar. On the nose, it captivates with noble wood aromas, which are underpinned with fine almond and maprzipan notes. In the mouth, it is velvety smooth, rounded off with beautiful honey notes in the finish.

NUN'S WHISKY SISTER Mary Jane

5 years barrel aged, peated, cask strength
The second whisky in the "Nun's Whisky" series, Sister Mary Jane, was produced and distilled in January 2018. The beautifully golden whisky matured in a Pinot Noir cask from Martin Hubacher in the cellars of the Klösterli. These rooms are also the namesake for our whisky, as they were once used as changing rooms for the nuns' Aare baths at the monastery.

Brandy

A brandy is produced by the distillation of fresh beer. It has the characteristic flavour of beer and has at least 38 percent alcohol by volume.

All our beer brandies are produced in collaboration with the Schwab distillery in Oberwil bei Büren. The small family business distils with a lot of care and experience, which makes our beer brandies of the highest quality.

Our first wheat beer brandy was already on the menu in 2000. Over the last 20 years we have had various beer brandies made from Tram-Helles, Tram-Märzen, Tram-Weizen & the Münsterbier. Some of them were even stored in oak barrels for a few years after distilling. Let yourself be inspired by the diversity of these fine brandies!
